Alright quick update. I am not going to delete what I first wrote on this page it is history of who I was but much has changed. Five years has passed since making this site. I am married now to an increadible guy and I have a wonderful baby boy (see bj riot's link). The story of us getting together is long and complicated but in the end is a happy one. I was looking over the page about who I am and my likes and for music not much has changed. I like a lot of female artists now like Ani DiFranco, Tori Amos and don't tell my husband but even some of his Bjork. I have gotten into Basement Jaxx and similare but still my favorite songs are the ones I have listed. Books since making the site I have yet to read any of them that I wanted to however I have gotten into Fantasy, especially Forgotten Realms books. When I have a few free minutes I like to play on a MUD called Forgotten Kingdoms. It is the first mud I have ever played on and I won't look for another. It is great and the people who own it and play on it are great. Movies...I still love all that I wrote and realized that I forgot a lot of musicals. I really like musicals. I am really into Gene Kelly and Fred Astair movies. There are good movies out there but none that I like enough to put on my list, maybe .... nope can't think of any right now. So now for the old stuff. Well, what do you all want to know? Yes, I am a female, though I have the common male spelling of my name. I don't mind since it means "dark fortress." Oh well, I am 23 as of April. So I am an Aries and a Fire Snake (1977). If you go to the button called me you can find out more about me. I have recently started to like some cats but I will always remain a dog lover, especially very large and very small dogs. Here are a few pictures of some cats that I could end up liking. The dog pictures are coming soon. Alexis, my dog (ok my brother's dog, though she likes me better) likes her picture taken, but I don't like scanning them so it will be a while, sorry. I am a student at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Eventually I will have a degree from the College of Public Affairs and Community Service, which happens to be located at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, but who ever said I did things the normal way. After I get my degree I will run the world, or at least help someone else in doing so.... Then again that wouldn't be fun. I think the best is if I run the world while the world thinks it runs itself. Well enough of long term planning. I have done some planning, short term and all, and figured that I should get to know the United States a bit better and in the process learn more about myself. I decided this after taking, summer of '99, a road trip around the USA. It was only three weeks long but it was great. I saw a lot and did a lot more, from New York to San Fran. and everything inbetween. There really isn't anything better than hitting the road with a rucksack only knowing that first you were going to try to get to New York City and then somehow try to find a way to San Fran. All within three weeks because summer school would be starting. It was a greatest three weeks. I learned so much about myself and how I handle what the world throws at me. The trip renewed my adventurous self and made me realize that no matter what happens in my life I will be able to get through it. If you ever have the chance to just travel around I really suggest it. I know now that once I am done being cared for by this university I will be able to survive out on my own. Hey, I lived three weeks out of a backpack, the world can't be that bad. I am now looking forward to a trip outside the U.S. I have never been out of the country so it should be a good time. I really want to get a different view of the world. I guess I see going somewhere other then the grand ol' US of A I just might find some more truth that is out there. I am one of those "big picture" people. Others call me "abstract" and some just think that I am crazy. I love to find out how things work and why they are working that way. By only staying in the states, I feel that I can get only so much of what the big picture is. How it all fits together is one of the most fascinating things for me to study. I guess that is why I really love Criminal Justice. Why we have the laws we do. What lead to that law, why did we make it a law then, was there other issues that supported the passing of this law. If I could study historical law and religion for the rest of my life it would be the greatest. But then the more you learn the less you know. Being naive has its advantages sometimes. (If you want examples about this reguarding our laws just ask me sometime.) I am also in a sorority. No, I am not one of the typical sorority girls but then none of us are. I am really sick of peoples' narrow mindedness not to see the full potential of the Greek system. Here is a group of people bound together with common beliefs, history, and we all went through joining process. All of this sets up an incredible network of support and information not unlike the military. OK so the possibility of loss of life is not there, but feeling of family is there, and the support and help is not that different. People in the military are involved on base and in the community because the other members of their group encourage them to do so. That is what the Greek system does. It encourages students to be involved on campus and it encourages their members to stay involved in society. There is a reason that the majority of Presidents and Legislators have all been Greek. If we got more people involved in the Greek system or groups similar to the military's concept of a family then maybe we would have more people watching out for others instead of themselves. Oh well, enough will my rant about some of the greatness of the Greek system. Where was I... Oh that's right talking about going to Europe. ... Maybe in a few years my parents will take a trip outside the U.S. I think my dad would get so much from it. But that will only happen whenever my mom is no longer afraid of planes and my dad finds time from saving the world. Oh well, check out the cool stuff my he does (cannot tell you what though, Classified) The company, his division. They did get bought by Computer Associates so the links will change soon. Well, if at any time you want to bless my life with yours or play some quake... er... study e-mail me. They are all daniswift@... fill in the blank: gmx.net, hotmail.com, missmuffy.com (this one will send me an ICQ message so that I know that you sent something), yahoo.com (which I don't check often because of all the adds) or Icq me at 19447544 (this is the fastest to get a hold of me). I would love to thank my dad for all that he has given me. Soon I will have a site up just for him. What a wonderful guy. The wisdom you shared with me as a child, though a bit advance for me then, has truly been a blessing in my life. I am so glad that you were able to give me your gift of insight, wisdom, and the talent to do whatever my mind tries to throw at me. Though sometimes, especially now, being able to do a lot and wanting to do a lot more is causing some problems in the career decision field. But then, you wouldn't have any idea what that is like, would you? :-) Thank you for teaching me to be the motivating leader. And though it is frustrating sometimes not being in command and having all the power, my talents are truly best used this way. |
